4.6 from 95 reviews

This Easy Matcha Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, incorporating vibrant matcha green tea flavor with creamy mascarpone filling and delicate lady fingers soaked in a sweetened matcha and Kahlua mixture. Perfect for a refreshing and elegant treat, this no-bake dessert requires minimal preparation and chills to develop rich flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

For Lady Fingers

  • 2 cups hot water
  • 34 tablespoons matcha powder, plus more for sifting on top
  • 2 tablespoons Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 14 ounces (about 24 lady fingers)

For Cream Filling

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Matcha Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the hot water and matcha powder until smooth. If using unsweetened matcha powder, add 1 to 2 tablespoons honey to sweeten. Stir in the Kahlua and allow the mixture to cool.
  2. Make Cream Filling: Using a stand or hand mixer, whip the heavy cream on high speed until stiff peaks begin to form. Add the mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, sugar, and a pinch of salt, then continue whipping until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Soak Lady Fingers: Quickly dip the lady fingers into the cooled matcha mixture. Avoid oversaturating them to prevent sogginess.
  4. Assemble First Layer: Arrange a layer of soaked lady fingers evenly in a casserole dish. Sift a light dusting of matcha powder on top.
  5. Spread Cream Layer: Spread an even layer of the cream filling over the lady fingers.
  6. Repeat Layers: Repeat dipping the lady fingers and layering with cream once more, finishing with a final sifting of matcha powder on top.
  7. Chill: Cover the tiramisu and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours to allow flavors to meld. The dessert can be served immediately if needed, but chilling enhances the taste and texture.

Notes

  • Do not oversoak the lady fingers to maintain texture.
  • If your matcha powder is pre-sweetened, omit the honey.
  • Use room temperature mascarpone for easier mixing.
  • Chilling is recommended for best flavor but is optional.
  • Kahlua can be substituted with any coffee liqueur or omitted for non-alcoholic version.
